Abstract

The individualism that runs rampant in society and has heavily impacted the church can effectively be opposed by countercultural, holistic, expressions of faith such as new monasticism. As church involvement and interest dwindles, the desire for community remains. The Church has a lot to offer in the realm of community and belonging, not to mention restored life and eternal salvation, but we may have to think outside of the box and turn to unconventional methods of action as opposed to traditional means of evangelism in order to communicate the Gospel within the current cultural climate.
